Sid to Participate in Syriana Q&A
Sid will participate in a screening of Syriana, followed by a Q&A, for the King’s College London Arabic Society on March 19th. Full details to come, but here is the “save the date” announcement:
The King’s College London Arabic Society is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a talk by Hollywood actor Alexander Siddig at Guy’s campus (exact venue to be confirmed) on THURSDAY 19TH MARCH.
For those that may not be familiar with him, Alexander Siddig is an actor of both English and Sudanese descent, who has had a number of prominent roles in both film and television over the past 15 years.
On the big screen, his most famous role is that of Prince Nasir in the highly acclaimed, Oscar winning drama “SYRIANA”, in which he starred alongside Matt Damon and George Clooney. He has also had parts in films as diverse as “Vertical Limit”, “Reign Of Fire”, and “Kingdom Of Heaven”.
On the small screen, the role for which he is best known is undoubtedly that of medical genius Dr. Julian Bashir in the critically acclaimed, long-running series “STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE”, a part which he played for seven years. He has also guest starred in a number of other series (both here and in the US), including “Spooks”, “Merlin”, “Family Guy”, and appeared as Dr. Bashir in an episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. He also had a prominent recurring role as reformed terrorist Hamri Al-Assad in the sixth season of the hugely popular real-time drama “24”, opposite Keifer Sutherland. You can read more about the projects that Mr. Siddig has appeared in here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0796502
The talk will be preceded by a screening of the film “Syriana”. Mr. Siddig will be speaking once it has finished, and is more than happy to take questions from members of the audience.
As one of very few actors of Arabic descent to achieve immense success in mainstream film and television, I’m sure you will agree that this promises to be a fascinating evening, and we do hope that you will take advantage of this rare, unique opportunity to see a Hollywood actor speak at King’s.
Most importantly, this is being intended as a CHARITY EVENT, and all the proceeds raised will be going to a worthy cause.
The film itself is provisionally scheduled to be screened at 5.15PM, with Mr. Siddig’s talk expected to follow once the film has finished (at approximately 7.30PM). Tickets will be going on sale very soon, and the exact venue and timing of the event are also to be confirmed within the next few days.
We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.
Thanks to Portia for the head’s up.
