The fine folks at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre have posted a lovely video of a conversation with Holy Warrior‘s playwright David Eldridge and star Alexander Siddig discussing the new play, the Crusades, playing Saladin, and performing in the historic theatre. Take a look below.

Holy Warriors runs July 19-August 24 at the Globe. More information and tickets available on their website.

  1. I love that theatre. Been there last year to see The Tempest. It was an amazing experience, for example the actors reacting to and playing with the audience. Entering/leaving the stage through the yard where people are standing. It is so completely different than any other theatre.
So everyone going to see the play have fun and I can recommend the Globe Exhibition and the tour.

  2. What a treat and am so envious of anyone going to the production.

  3. Nice interview. :)
I’ve never been inside the Globe Theatre. Just know it from the outside. ;)
Two and a half weeks and that will change. :D

  4. Went with my wife and two teenage children to see ‘Holy Warriors’ on Saturday 19th July. Thoroughly enjoyed this production. A splendid choice of actors for the roles of Richard the Lionheart and Saladin. Bumped into several of the actors (including Alexander) after the production, and had brief chats with them all. Great script, great actors/actresses, great location.

  5. Is there a transscript of this interview? Or do you know if it’s going to be in the next newsletter.

  6. There are plans for a transcript of the interview to appear in the newsletter.
