Indeed, KOH was #1 in both rentals and sales during its first week in the US. Rock on!

I'm reading the same thing around the 'net. I also heard from one person that the scenes that were originally cut for theatrical release were not put back in. Can someone confirm or deny this?
Mel
Right, this is just the theatrical version. The extended version isn't due until sometime next year - the date hasn't been confirmed yet.

I hope the DVD will be sold in germany well, too. But we have to wait sooo long. Can´t wait until 24 November. I want to buy the DVD here and now!!!

Did anyone watch the bonus material?
Can somebody tell me what it's like?
I'm just rying to find out if it isn't maybe better to wait for the extended version. I've read somewhere that there is no comment by the director and people were guessing that it will probably be on the extended dvd.

Hi.

The 2 disc DVD extras were pretty good. The two documentaries are worth watching and "The Pilgrims Tale" which are like historical subtitles throughout the entire movie are interesting (although heavy going in one sitting) They also have all the internet and cinema trailers as well.

I enjoyed it and considering that the Gladiator extended version has just been released in the UK could mean that it is worth having this copy just in case.

I was pleased that some of the deleated scenes are in the documentary, although it only make me more frustrated at what might have been.

Hope that this helps.

Jude

Indeed. The one chance I ever got to rent it in my busy schedule and all of them--bar none--were all checked out.
*sigh*
I guess I'll live though...
Rock on! (does coldplay rock?)

MoviesOnline (Canada) has some "scoop" about the director's cut:

Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut in 2006
Director Ridley Scott Movie Kingdom of Heaven
News Genre : Action Movie News DVD / TV News

In an interview over at Guardian Unlimited, director Ridley Scott brought attention future plans for a director's cut of his 2005 epic film Kingdom of Heaven on DVD, reports The Digital Bits. Ther was alot of footage, including entire subplots that had to be cut and trimmed for its theatrical release.

You can expect a multi-disc release set with 45 added minutes added sometime in 2006.

Set in 12th century Europe and the exotic East, "Kingdom of Heaven" is an epic adventure about a young peasant (Orlando Bloom) who finds himself thrust into a decades-long war.

A stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed king, falls in love with an exotic and forbidden queen, and rises to knighthood. Ultimately, he must protect the people of Jerusalem from overwhelming forces – while striving to keep a fragile peace.....

The movie was written by William Monahan, directed by Ridley Scott ("Alien", "Gladiator") and stars Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, Brendan Gleeson, Marton Csokas, and Liam Neeson.

Not exactly new information or all that precise, but at least we know that the (current) plan is to release the extended version in 2006 rather than 5 years later a la Gladiator.

Myself, I'm hoping for a late Spring early Summer release. Although, if it comes out sooner, I certainly won't be complaining. biggrin.gif

I've been debating with myself whether to get the current release or wait for the extended version, although the extras on this one look like they're well worth it too. I'll definitely be getting the extended one, either way - 45 extra minutes, that'll be fun!

(Right now, I'm hoping my daughter gets me this one for Christmas and takes the decision out of my hands. I mean, she got one for herself, and she knows I want one. smile.gif )

Make life easier for yourself. Just steal hers and claim maternal priority. Also tell her that if she really wanted to watch Orlando Bloom THAT badly, she could just watch Lord of the Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean, in which he gives better performances than Kingdom of Heaven. Or just send her out with a stalking kit, it'll certainly take her off your hands for a while.

I got my dvd for christmas! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
I was halfway through one of the documentaries when I was interrupted by my mother saying I could watch it next week.
(I'm going to take it upstairs later. Only a tiny tv screen there, but enough. I have waited for so long, nothing is going to stop me now. lol.gif )

I have watched the whole movie yesterday (well, the last part I watched today, because it was after midnight lol.gif )
cloud9.gif I had almost forgotten what a great movie it is. It was even better than the first time I watched it.
(Although, on my tiny TV screen the battle scenes didn't look half as impressive as they did on the big screen.)
I realised that the movie has just everything I want: Sid, Orlando, horses, more horses, romance, great music, fantastic landscape.. faint.gif

I got the DVD on "Nikolaus" (the 6th December) and watched the film on the same day for the first time.
This film is amazing! I love it sooo much. My friends who has seen the film when he was played in the cinemas thought that he was boring. I have to say that I was sad when the film was ready and started to look the film onde again, but in English.

Well, KOH has a happy ending for him. And DS9 did. But, yeah, obviously Sid isn't scared of death scenes. lol.gif

How could I have forgotten KOH, I bought the movie! blush.gif (And loved it!) Say, it came with a book full of pictures and there's one of Sid's character, (He's called Imad in the book, was that changed to Nasir before the movie was released?), on top of a white horse. I can't tell in that pic whether it's actually Sid on the horse or a stunt double because it's right before Sid's character is about to take a fall off of the horse and I can't make out the face clearly in the pic. (Darn my bifocals!) Before I frame it heart.gif heart.gif I want to know if it's really Sid! Also, did he do his own stunt there and has he done some of them in other shows? Maybe someone will get to ask Sid this August in Las Vegas whether his most challenging riding was in Kingdom of Heaven or Hannibal. I do know that Sid complained of sand blowing into his eyes in KoH so I would imagine he'd be riding blind part of the time.

Sid did none of the galloping for A Dangerous Man, not because he couldn't ride well enough, but because that horse was not approved for actors to ride. Actors were only allowed to ride the horses that just stood there. Horses that moved quickly were ridden by stuntmen.

I really liked this movie. Mr. Siddig's performance in the movie really gave it depth and I enjoyed how his character as well as the other characters reacted toward each other.

I am going to get the Director's Cut of this film.

Peace.

This picture looks very similar to the one in the book that I got along with my DVD but, in the book, Sid or double is too far away for me to see the face as clearly as I can in this picture. Is this a closeup of the same picture that's in the book? Did Sid have a stunt double get thrown from the horse (I hope) and who is in the picture in the KOH book? I'm just curious. Just annie
