Sid wrote another of his famous, long, newsy letters,
now posted on the front page. (We want to keep comments all in one place, so he can see your feedback.) He ranges from an awkward conversation with his son to his recent films to playing cricket to wondering if we should have a recipe section on the site. Grab a cuppa and pull up a chair!

Not to be dumb, but does that mean you'd prefer comments about the letter on the front page rather than here?
It does indeed.

I posted a comment but it does not show? Perhaps I am doing something wrong. Thanks!

I had the same problem. Other people don't seem to be having it though...hm...

email Mel. Sometimes certian posts get flagged as Spam. happens to me
all the time. If I didn't understand computer glitches, I think Mel or Sid had something against me (maybe it's all the arguing I do with Sid, heh, heh, heh).
One of my recent comments on the letter replying to Pothos seems to be lost in cyberspace as well. . .
When she finds you twos, she'll probably find mine (and the Spam spaghetti

)

The entries on the front page probably get delayed. I would not be surprised if they get looked at first by a moderator.
I actually quite like the Spam recipe... It reads tasty and I am awfully impressed that Sid managed that with only one pot. I am waiting for the cookbook to arrive and I am going to try the sauce. You never can have too many sauces to go with pasta.
Maybe Pothos should start the thread of "Sid's kitchen" with the Spam-Spaghetti-recipe in the creative section. Or we wait for Mel to find a good place for the recipe blog.

I love your picture of Sid with that big smile!
For me, I stick with jar sauces (Prego).
I was never able to learn my mom's recipes for her winter and summer spaghetti sauces. Now, it's too late

What's this cookbook everyone is talking about? Is a fanclub thing I missed out on while I was on hiatus (I'm going back to work today, so I should be rejoining soon).

If I'm not mistaken there is a "Star Trek Cookbook" where different actors/actresses share recipes. I don't know if it's still for sale.
As for comments on the front page: The complete site went blank for tree times and then I gave up. One hour later my post was there. No idea what's happening there.

Threat?-I think you mean 'thread'
Threat sounds a little ominous

Gotcha, Believe it or not, I looked at that on Amazon recently. Amazon recommended it to me. Wonder why? LOL. I'll have to add that to my mother's cookbook collection, just so she can have Sid's recipe. She's dying of curiousity.

Heh, Heh, Heh.

My comment is showing now, so I'm guessing perhaps it was just a moderating thing, or maybe just an odd delay.

I looked up the cookbook on Google Books. It won't let me see the recipe, but I was able to read some of the description. From the description, it sounds like what we were served at the Hostel in Bath! And charged us 6 pounds a piece for it. I'm sure Sid's would better. The food at that hostel was terrible compared to the other ones we stayed at.
We have a LOT of spam attempts on the main site, so the filter is set to the highest level possible. I check the queue when I get the time, so please be patient. Once you've had a few comments approved, the filter should let you through faster as it learns who is legit.

Do we have a place for plain chatter?
I would like to write about the Star Trek Cookbook that arrived today.
There are so many interesting recipes....
But boy that book stinks. It must have been kept in a wet basement...
Do we already have the recipe blog an I only missed finding it?

I haven't set up the recipe blog yet. Trying to find a way to do it so y'all can submit recipes without me needing to do a lot of editing and such.

Thank you, Mel, for installing the recipe blog on the page.
I had an inspiring weekend with my blender and some chilis etc., so I have to thank Sid - and you, because you and the administrators provide us all with the place to meet here in the internet. It probably takes a lot of time to take care of "SidCity", I appreciate your effort very much.
