The Final episodes Options

Have they finished season 5 on Watch as I have just completed my viewing of the DVD and must say you are all in for a real treat.

I caught it online (sssshhh) and WHOA! I agree Jude. I thought Sid did especially well in the finale. He really gave Phil some heart.

I found it incredibly moving.

Me too. However, I loved when he said to Matt, "I'm the bad guy." Charmedgirl and I had been arguing over whether Sid would add this as another notch in his belt of dramatic exits (so to speak) and she kept arguing no! and I said, "well, he's the bad guy!"

But there were quite a few who changed their opinion of our boy Phil at the end. And it did tug at the heart strings, especially that moment when he was distraught and sittng on the stairs.

So, this is it. Just finished the two final episodes on German TV.
No spoilers here, but they are quite good.

Still, I do not like the German voice of Philipp and Sid delivers his lines much better, so one day I'll have to get the DVD to have the original fun. I suppose Lester is much better, too.

So many chances to get killed by a prehistoric animal and he choses self-destruction.

I think seasons 4 & 5 had some lengths compared to seasons 1-3 which were entertaining from the first to the last episode. But overall it's still a pretty cool show.

But can someone tell me how the giant anomaly caused the creation of those mutant bats and insects we see in the "future"? Radioactivity? The cars we see in the future scenarios don't look much older then a few hundred years. That's not nearly enough time for normal evolution. They explained the "why" but left the "how" a bit unanswered, I feel.

(I don't mind the second Matt at the end. That's all time travel stuff. I gave up finding logical explanations for that. )

I thought that it was not evolution that created the new toxic world creatures but the continual expansion of the two supposedly stable but in reality anything but anomalies leading to creatures from other time lines and dimensions invading the dead earth hence their prescience.

Ego in the end drove Phillip's personality not only to start the whole mess in the first place but in his supposed heroic sacrifice would in his final act save the world. However this did not work. I do wonder if he lived as he fell into the animally which Connor and Matt returned from so the question is? Is Phillip dead or just lost.

I haven't watched season 5 yet, but I've been reading these spoilers. I never can resist spoilers. Do you have the impression that they've left it open to bring Philip back if the show is renewed for another season?

I think is is open for the character. However as it is such an ambivalent ending Phillip could be dead, missing in time or a different time line Phillip could return. To me it seems illogical he was vaporised while others returned. in fact Matt actually goes through twice, with Connor and Abby also returning through the animally.

Phillip "demise" will cause much discussion but there is wiggle room for Siddig to reappear if the show continues.

Here is a strange twist of fate. The actress who played Helen Cutter (Juliet Aubrey) was in "The Big Battalions" with Siddig all those years ago. Still never seen that show.

Yes, for a show that was so talked about, you would think it would be available in some capacity.
