On Saturday night I was far too nervous to watch the Andy Murray tennis match so decided to watch an adaptation of the play Richard II on BBC2 staring Patrick Stewart as John of gaunt. I knew nothing of this play but was mesmerised from the opening shots and can recommend this to anyone even if they are not a fan of Sheakespeare.

Ben Whishaw was outsanding in the title role.
