cheer.gif A wonder to behold. cheer.gif

Sid was brilliant!
Orlando was brilliant!
Plus (this really topped it off for me), Jeremy Irons was in it.
A movie well made, I can't wait to watch it again. clap2.gif

I'm glad you liked this, Bonaparte! Did you see the director's cut or the theatrical version?

Get the director's cut, if you can. It's even better.

Yes, please do get the director's cut. You will get all of the story then. What you saw was merely a glorified trailer and if you liked it, you will love the real movie! smile.gif

I have only seen the theatrical verison myself. My opinion of the movie is like this. I thought that Sid was great from the get go...but I wasn't crazy about the movie itself (at first).

It started to grow on me, however. Now, I love this movie! Go figure!

Tara, you definitely need to see the Director's Cut. It is so much better than the theatrical version that you'll almost wonder if it's the same movie.

I taped it from Cinemax. Is that the same as the cinema version? Because I didn't see it in the movies (had no idea he was even in the movie then).

If the Cinemax version was 194 minutes long than that was the director's cut. The director's cut shows all of Sibylla's story with her son and it shows more of Balian's story about his wife. It also shows a bit more of Godfey's happy memories of Balian's mother. Put it this way: if you watched the movie from Cinemax and came away thinking "Meh, I don't get it", chances are you didn't see the director's cut.

That's not his son. He's from a previous marriage.

And yes, buy the dvd.

Thank god! Although they never showed the son in the 'cable' version. I guess I'll have to.

Wait a minute. In the movie, she said she was 15 when she married Guy (not by her choice, of course). Does that mean she was married even earlier than that to someone else?

Actually, now that I think of it, that was common back then. Girls were married as young as 12 years old.

BTW I got the "director's cut" version today. I'll watch part of it in a little while.

It's on right now on Cinemax2 at the part where 'King' Guy killed the messenger who demanded the body of Saladin's sister.

The messenger is played by the actor Karim Salah who appeared with Sid in the Hamburg Cell.

Best Wishes
